Hanging with the Artists!

Just a quick note to invite you to the Waterfront Gallery for the Arts, 207 E. Missouri Avenue in Pierre, South Dakota on Friday March 1st starting at 4 p.m.

I was honored to be asked to create a floral piece for this reception showcasing talented artists! Check out the Bokay Studio Facebook page for more information.

Following the art gallery theme, I gave my work a name: “Waiting for Spring”. The container is a glossy white ceramic bust (I’ve always loved the feeling of giving thoughts to flowers)…it’s a riot of color (including tulips and ranunculus) in a grassy floral look woven into a structure of morning glory vines with a unique focal point: a robin’s nest! I’ve always loved studying nests in branches, but this one pulled at my heart, because woven into the nest is a long string of clear fish line. For those of you that know my life, well you know the fishing connection. I’ve always been amazed by the talent of nest builders (particularly robins) because they use mud and design an orderly stable nest. My floral work always incorporates nature and the outdoors and this time I need to thank the beautiful industrious Robin that crafted the focal point!

I sure hope you can attend the reception to meet the artists and critique my floral work, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
